Knees Chapter 2

Well I have had my first total knee replacement. What a difference this has made. I am now nearly totally pain free in my right knee, can stand on it, walk on it and put my weight on it without hardly any pain and I know it is only going to get better. What a brilliant operation. I had this new knee on 28th October 2005 and returned to work on 4th Janauary 2006. I am expecting to return to hospital for the next replacement on my left knee on 20th January 2006 and so will then be laid low for a short time but if I make the same progress as this time around I will be thrilled.

Medical Science is a wonderful thing.

Problems with Hollie the Hound.

As my family know this year I have some strawberries and tomatoes in pots in the back garden.

At the beginning of the week my strawberry harvest began with, wait for it...
One Strawberry, yes one whole strawberry of which I was extremely proud, even though it was quite small.

On Tuesday there was even more. This time two strawberries. I offered to share them with my nearest and dearest but they declined.

This morning, there was I with my watering can when I realised that Happy Hound had something in her mouth that she was playing with. Yes you've guessed it was one of my strawberries she was tossing into the air and chasing it and then in front of my eyes she had the audacity to go and pinch another one and start again. Pleased I was not and so now there is a net on my berries, not from the birds as one might think but from the delinquent dog.

Knees

Last week I went to see consultant Mr Calder at Cromer Hospital about my cranky knees and guess what?

He says I can have new ones.

I will have to wait about nine months, but hopefully at the beginning of 2006 I shall be the receipient of brand new shiny knees. My hopes are that I will become more mobile and be pain free or virtually pain free.

Fingers crossed, here's hoping for a very special start to 2006.
